Section 5.B – Wireless Network Usage

Wireless internet access through the Vance-Granville Community College network is for students, employees, and designated guests of the College. Use of the VGCC Wireless Network implies that you agree to abide by the College’s Computer and Network Acceptable Use Policy and other policies, rules, and regulations that pertain to the use of College computing equipment and network access. Other conditions users agree to abide by include:

  1. Interference or disruption of other authorized communications that result from the intentional or incidental misuse or misapplication of wireless network radio frequency spectrum is prohibited.
  2. Wireless access points must abide by all federal, state, and local laws, rules or regulations pertaining to wireless networks.
  3. Deployment of wireless access points by individuals or departments other than VGCC is prohibited.
  4. Wireless access points shall require user authentication at the access point before granting access to campus or Internet services. Wireless network interfaces and end-user devices shall support authentication to access wireless networks that allow connectivity to the Campus Network.
  5. In the event that a wireless device interferes with other equipment, VGCC shall resolve the interference as determined by use priority. OIT reserves the right to confiscate any unauthorized wireless access points.
  6. Any wireless network on campus which poses a security threat may be disconnected from the campus network.
