What You Learn at Orientation

Find out about registering for classes, financial aid, email, student resources and get valuable tips about being a successful student. Orientation is available in both seated and online formats. New Student Orientation is required for all degree seeking Vance-Granville students.

  • Financial Aid 101: Are you interested in getting help paying for college? Please attend Financial Aid 101 to learn about FAFSA, scholarships, and other financial assistance.

As a courtesy to others, if you are more than 15 minutes late to your session you will need to contact the Office of Admissions & Enrollment Services to reschedule.

NOTE: Need help with setting up student accounts? You must arrive 30 minutes before the session starts to receive assistance from IT Support.

Choose the campus location of your choice and select a date that best fits your schedule.

**You will need to set up your student email account before attempting to access the online orientation presentation. For assistance, view our New Student Quick Start Guide.

As a new or returning student to VGCC, you are required to complete new student orientation before being able to register for classes.

This orientation will take approximately an hour to complete and consists of five modules:

  1. Academics & Studies
  2. Student Services
  3. Policies & Safety
  4. Student Life
  5. Paying for College

You are welcome to stop and start the modules as needed. Once you complete the full orientation, the Admissions Department will receive a notification of completion and the orientation hold will be lifted from your account. Within 24 hours of notification, you will be eligible to register for classes and receive financial aid support.
