Use of College Facilities

Section 6.H – Use of College Facilities

The College and College-sponsored activities shall receive first priority in the reserving of College facilities in most cases. When facilities are available, the College welcomes use by community groups and organizations. Public use of the College facilities will be at the discretion of the College President.

Scheduling of College facilities will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis after College and College-sponsored activities are scheduled. The College does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, creed, national origin, sex, age, or disability. Approval to use College facilities is not an endorsement by the College of the user’s organization or group. The College reserves the right to deny usage to any group or organization if there is reason to believe that such use would interfere with the College’s educational mission, operations, or functions.

Each group, organization, or individual desiring to use the facilities must complete an Application for Facility Usage and agree to its terms and conditions. College facilities may be used only for the purposes approved in accordance with these established procedures. Fees charges for use of College facilities vary depending on the type of organization, type of facility, and the time and duration of a scheduled event. Special requests for equipment, conditions, or assistance necessary in connection with facilities usage should be submitted at the time of application. All fees obtained for rental of facilities are used to support the purpose and mission of the College. Allowable expenses to be funded with facility rental income include:

  1. Facility operating, maintenance, renovation and other capital costs
  2. Expenditures of direct benefit to students, such as student aid
  3. Other institutional related expenses authorized by the College President or the Board of Trustees

In renting or making available for use any College property, neither the President, the Board of Trustees, nor any College personnel shall assume responsibility for loss or damage to any property placed on the premises by the user or participants, nor for personal injury which may occur during the use of the facility. Authorization shall be given for entrance to and use of specific areas and facilities only. Misuse of College facilities or violations of the regulations and guidelines for use of facilities may result in prohibition from any future use of College facilities by that group, organization, or individual.
