Vance-Granville Community College aims to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety and welfare of all the College’s employees, students and any other persons who may work on, visit, or use its premises, or who may be affected by its activities or services. The good management of all these issues is an essential part of the ethos of the College
Section 2.D.1 – Communicable Disease
Employees or students who know or who have reason to believe that they are infected with a communicable disease have an ethical obligation to protect themselves and others. Individuals who are infected with communicable diseases should report the infection to their immediate supervisors or Human Resources; students may report the information to the Executive Director of Human Resources. All information will be kept confidential. Each case will be handled on an individual basis in accordance with the medical needs of the individual concerned.
Section 2.D.1 – Pandemic Preparedness
VGCC has created a Pandemic Preparedness Plan to guide the College in preparing for and responding to an influenza pandemic outbreak. The purpose of the plan is to minimize the impact of an influenza pandemic on students, faculty and staff by describing the specific actions to be taken by the College.
Section 2.D.1 – Exposure Control Plan (ECP) for Blood Borne Pathogens
The ECP of Vance-Granville Community College complies with standards promulgated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), U. S. Department of Labor. The plan identifies job classifications that have been determined to have potential exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids. The plan covers training, immunization (hepatitis-B), accidental exposure procedures, and record keeping.
