Lactation Rooms for Nursing Mothers

Vance-Granville Community College is committed to providing a caring, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all members of the campus community.  All four of our campuses have a private space for breastfeeding mothers to express milk for later use. These lactation rooms are intended for use by employee mothers who have returned to work or student mothers who are attending classes.

Room Use Expectations

Appointments

Appointments can be made online by visiting our Lactation Room Scheduling (Microsoft Bookings, must login) page. Appointments are available in 30-minute slots with an additional 15 minutes provided between bookings to allow for cleanup and assurance of privacy. You must have a VanguardID to book an appointment. If you do not have a VanguardID, please use the contact information provided for the location you are attempting to reserve for further assistance.

Privacy

Please respect the privacy of all Lactation Room users by knocking before accessing the rooms.

Cleaning & Sanitizing

Nursing mothers are responsible for bringing their equipment and cleaning up after each use. This is not only out of respect for the next user but to prevent contamination and illness transmission. Cleaning agents and paper towels should be provided in each room to clean any spills. (Please note that these products should never be used to sanitize your equipment.)

Breast Milk Storage

The College does not provide refrigeration for breast milk storage, so you will need to provide your own cooler with an ice pack for storage purposes.
