For most programs, yes—a high school diploma or equivalent is required. However, we offer Adult Basic Education and GED preparation courses for students who are working toward their high school equivalency diploma. Visit College and Career Readiness to learn more.

Costs vary depending on your program and residency status. Degree programs use your residency to determine your tuition rate. Short-term workforce classes are offered at reasonable rates. VGCC also offers scholarships for students pursuing academic or career pathways.

VGCC offers classes in different formats to fit your schedule and learning style. You can take classes in-person, online, or in a hybrid format.

Hybrid classes combine online and in-person learning. This might mean attending class on campus a few days a week or joining scheduled online sessions at specific times.

Yes. To be considered for financial aid, you must submit a new Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each academic year. Visit www.studentaid.gov to complete your FAFSA and use VGCC’s school code: 009903.

Applications are active for 1 academic year (3 consecutive semesters). You’ll only need to reapply if you have not taken courses within a year of your application completion.

Upon completion of your admissions application, please allow 2–3 business days (may take longer during our peak season) for processing. We send a physical letter via USPS to the mailing address you provided. If it’s been over a week, please email us at [email protected] . In the meantime, ensure your official transcripts are submitted, apply for Financial Aid, and explore class schedules for the upcoming semester.

If your records were previously submitted to the Admissions Office, they should still be in your student record. You would only need to provide new documents if there’s an update in the information, we need to be aware of, for example, an updated transcript. Yes! Our Registrar’s Office evaluates official transcripts for transfer credit. Be sure your transcripts are sent directly to us. Submitting Transcripts FAQ

  • Fill out our regular application and select “A Visiting Student “ as your program. It will be the first option from the list.
  • Once accepted, you’ll receive a letter by mail at the address provided in your application.
  • Submit transcripts for any course that has a prerequisite.
  • You don’t need to attend a new student orientation.

Classes begin at various times throughout the year, depending on the academic or career pathway you choose. Check our academic calendar or speak with an advisor for specific start dates.
