Section 3.A – Selection of Employees

Vance-Granville Community College uses an advertising, recruiting, screening, and interview process to fill full-time positions. The Human Resources Office coordinates the hiring process for all full-time positions. Interviews are conducted by a hiring committee specifically assembled for each position hired. The committee makes a hiring recommendation to the appropriate Vice President.

Generally, in coordination with Human Resources, part-time personnel including instructors are hired by the appropriate Department Chair, Program Head, Coordinator, Director or Dean. Veterans are provided a preference in hiring decisions in accordance with Section 128-15 North Carolina General Statutes.

In lieu of the advertising, recruiting, screening, and interview process, the President may choose to appoint a qualified internal candidate to any position vacancy.

The President of Vance-Granville Community College shall select all new full-time, part-time, and temporary personnel of the College. The President’s selections of all full-time personnel will be reviewed by the Personnel Committee and presented to the full Board of Trustees for information.
