Vance-Granville Community College is pleased to announce an exciting evolution of its Pharmacy Technology program, designed to expand access, increase flexibility, and accelerate workforce entry for our students.
Effective Fall 2026, Pharmacy Technology will transition from the Curriculum division (credit) to Continuing Education (non-credit), offering students a streamlined, eight-week instructional format that meets today’s workforce demands while maintaining the high-quality preparation our program is known for.
What’s Changing
- Beginning Fall 2026, the College will no longer accept new cohorts into the Pharmacy diploma or associate degree pathways under the Curriculum program.
- The Pharmacy Technology certificate will now be housed within Continuing Education.
- Courses will be delivered in accelerated, eight-week sessions.
- Designed for faster completion and quicker entry into the workforce.
What’s Staying the Same
While the structure is evolving, the core strengths of the program remain unchanged:
- Fully online, faculty-supported instruction.
- Eight-week course delivery with dedicated instructor engagement.
- Preparation for national pharmacy technician certification exams.
- Optional Work-Based Learning (WBL) clinical experience to strengthen real‑world skills.
- Comprehensive wraparound student support.
Workforce-Focused Support
In partnership with the Vance-Granville Career Services Center, students will continue to receive hands-on support to ensure a smooth transition into employment, including:
- Resume and cover letter preparation
- Interview readiness
- Job search strategies
- Employer connections and workforce placement support
This collaborative approach ensures graduates complete the program with both the technical skills and career readiness needed to succeed in today’s pharmacy workforce.
A More Accessible Path Forward
This transition reflects Vance-Granville’s ongoing commitment to innovation, workforce alignment, and student success. By moving the Pharmacy Technology certificate into Continuing Education, the College is expanding access to high-demand healthcare training for adult learners, working professionals, and those seeking rapid career advancement.
We look forward to welcoming new students into this reimagined program beginning Fall 2026.
