VGCC to hold Medical Assisting information session

Vance-Granville Community College will hold an information session on careers in Medical Assisting at the college’s Franklin County Campus in Louisburg, where the Medical Assisting program is conducted.

The first information session will take place on Wednesday, October 15 from 6 until 7 p.m. in the multi-purpose room (F400) at the Franklin Campus.

Now in its tenth year at VGCC, the Medical Assisting curriculum program prepares multi-skilled health care professionals who are qualified to perform administrative, clinical and laboratory procedures. Because VGCC’s program earned national accreditation for a second time in 2007, graduates are eligible to sit for the American Association of Medical Assistants’ (AAMA) certification examination to become Certified Medical Assistants. Graduates have found jobs in physicians’ offices, health maintenance organizations, health departments and hospitals.

For more information, call Tammy Leach , the new head of VGCC’s Medical Assisting program, at (919) 496-1567, ext. 3607, or (252) 738-3607.
