VGCC offers Spring Mini-Term Classes

Although the Spring 2016 semester at Vance-Granville Community College is underway, there are still opportunities to register for a variety of classes offered during “mini-terms.” These sections start later during the semester, but end on May 9, at the same time as the full 16-week courses, and they include just as many hours of instruction as under the traditional schedule.

The Spring 12-Week Mini-Term begins on Tuesday, Feb. 9. The complete list of courses is available by visiting schedules.vgcc.edu and clicking on the printable “12-Week Mini-Term” schedule .

VGCC has scheduled more than 30 curriculum classes on the 12-week schedule, most of which are offered online. The courses include not only College Transfer general education courses in subjects such as English or History, but also courses required for degrees such as Accounting , Computer Technology Integration , Medical Office Administration and Paralegal Technology .

Several Criminal Justice courses are scheduled, including some that are part of the new “ Vanguard Online Learning through Technology ,” or VOLT, initiative, which allows students to complete an entire associate degree online.

There are also a few courses offered during the Second 8-Week Term, which starts Tuesday, March 8. The complete list of these courses is available by visiting schedules.vgcc.edu and clicking on the printable “2nd 8-Week Mini-Term” schedule .

Currently enrolled students may register in person at any of VGCC’s four campuses, or they can register online through the WebAdvisor system, accessed through the VGCC website at www.vgcc.edu .

New students must first apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.gov . Students should allow up to 10 working days for the FAFSA to be processed by the U.S. Department of Education before it is forwarded to VGCC or be prepared to pay tuition, fees, and books with cash or credit card. New students must apply for admission by following instructions found at admissions.vgcc.edu and attend orientation ( orientation.vgcc.edu ) either in-person or online.
