VGCC offers Seminar on Managing Conflict at Work

Vance-Granville Community College’s Small Business Center will offer a free seminar on Conflict Management from 9 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, Jan. 27 in room 7107 of Building 7 on the college’s main campus in Vance County.

Participants will learn how to view conflict, which is inevitable in the workplace, as an opportunity for changes and growth. The seminar, presented by Deborah Barberousse of Shelby, N.C., will examine how to identify the five basic causes of workplace conflict and how to focus on avoiding negative conflict before it occurs. When conflict does occur, participants will understand how to treat the causes of the conflict rather than the symptoms. They will also learn eight simple rules to help deal with conflict, how to move toward successful resolution and how to use the experience to actually improve and enhance the workplace.

VGCC Small Business Center Director Diane Finch advised that space is limited for this free seminar. To reserve a seat, pre-register by calling the Small Business Center at (252) 492-2061, ext. 3275 or ext. 3240.
