VGCC Medical Assisting students provide Christmas gifts to homeless

The Student Association of Medical Assistants (SAMA) at Vance-Granville Community College recently helped brighten the holidays for those in need by participating in the Raleigh Rescue Mission’s annual “gift tag” program. The club received 10 gift tags from Raleigh Rescue Mission requesting specific items for a homeless man, woman or child. The students and their instructors delivered the gifts to the Mission in person on Dec. 7. Pictured above, from left to right are Medical Assisting instructor Patrice Allen, SAMA Chapter President Sarah Ruehl of Raleigh, Medical Assisting program head/instructor Donna Gardner, and students Judy McIntosh of Bunn, Rachel Edwards of Louisburg, Lindsey Hinkle of Creedmoor and Jennifer Sykora of Franklinton.

SAMA is an organization of Medical Assisting students and is affiliated with the American Association of Medical Assistants. The Medical Assisting program is based at VGCC’s Franklin County Campus near Louisburg. For more information, call Donna Gardner at (919) 496-1567, ext. 3607, or (252) 738-3607.
