Personal Enrichment opportunities scheduled at two VGCC campuses

Vance-Granville Community College has scheduled several non-credit personal enrichment classes to start soon on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County and the Franklin County Campus near Louisburg, offering area residents a variety of fun opportunities to learn new skills or develop hobbies.

 

Painting classes taught by longtime art instructor Lelia Brigham will be offered on Monday evenings from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m., Sept. 8 through Dec. 8, and on Tuesdays from 9:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m., Sept. 9 through Dec. 9. Both classes meet in room 5230 on Main Campus. The cost of this course is $95.

 

In addition, a Portrait Painting class taught by Leslie Johnson will be held on Wednesdays from 1:45 until 4:45 p.m., Sept. 10 through Nov. 12, also in room 5230 on Main Campus. The cost of this course is $70.

 

Doll Making is scheduled to be offered on Main Campus on Tuesday mornings from 8 a.m. until noon, Sept. 9 through Nov. 11. Bertie Bumgarner is the instructor. The cost of the course is $95.

 

Quilting classes will be offered on Main Campus on three schedules: Tuesday evenings from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m., Sept. 2 through Dec. 9; Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. until noon, Sept. 3 through Dec. 10; and Thursday evenings from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m., Sept. 4 through Dec. 11.  Velvet Boyd is the instructor on Tuesdays, while Peggy Stocks teaches on Wednesdays and Thursdays. On any schedule, the cost of the course is $95.

 

Woodworking, taught by VGCC Carpentry program head Keith Tunstall, is set for Thursday evenings from 6 until 10 p.m., Sept. 11 through Nov. 13. The cost of the course is $110.

 

China Painting is scheduled to be offered at Franklin Campus on Thursdays from 9 a.m. until noon, Aug. 28 through Dec. 4. Diane Moss is the instructor. The cost of the course is $95.

 

Pam Danzer will teach Art at Franklin Campus on two schedules: Tuesdays from 9 a.m. until noon, and Tuesdays from 1 until 4 p.m., both starting Sept. 9 and ending Dec. 9. The cost is $85.

 

Registration for any of these courses can be completed online at www.vgcc.edu/ped  or in person at Main Campus, Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or at Franklin Campus, Wednesdays from 2 until 5 p.m.
