Ready to unlock new opportunities and expand your horizons in 2025? VGCC’s Continuing Education classes are designed to help you achieve your goals. With flexible schedules, expert instructors, and courses that cater to a wide range of interests, there’s no better time to invest in your personal and professional growth.

Continuing Education programs (sometimes shortened to “Con Ed” or “CE”) are designed for adults looking to advance their career, gain new skills, or simply explore something new. Where a longer degree/diploma program includes more general education classes, Con Ed courses focus specifically on practical training—equipping you for a new career in a matter of months or even weeks!

Keep reading to learn about just some of the new and noteworthy Continuing Education programs happening at Vance-Granville during winter/spring 2025. BioWork Process Technician

VGCC’s BioWork Process Technician course prepares you for your new career in North Carolina’s thriving biotechnology industry. In about two months, you’ll have the foundational skills you need to begin a career as a process technician for a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or chemical manufacturing company. Vance-Granville Community College offers BioWork as a hybrid course, combining online learning with a weekly in-person lab at the College’s Franklin Campus in Louisburg. Two schedule options are available in winter/spring 2025:

  • Class starting Feb. 4 will meet Tuesday evenings 5–8 p.m.
  • Class starting March 19 will meet Wednesday afternoons 12–3 p.m.

Central Sterile Processing

Vance-Granville Community College is excited to announce its new Central Sterile Processing course, scheduled to launch in April 2025! This specialized course will prepare students for a rewarding career in healthcare, focusing on the essential skills needed for disinfecting, storing, and issuing supplies for patient care. Designed to introduce the primary responsibilities of a central sterile technician, the course will teach preparation, distribution of materials, and quality assurance in just 10 weeks.

Offered as a hybrid course, Central Sterile Processing will combine the convenience of online learning with crucial hands-on lab experience. The in-person component will meet during the evenings at the VGCC Franklin Campus.

Court Reporting

Study for an exciting career field that puts you in the courtroom when important cases are being heard! Court Reporting is an in-demand career with starting salaries over $45,000 annually and the potential to earn over $80,000 per year. When Vance-Granville launched Court Reporting in 2024, we became the only community college in North Carolina offering the fast-paced program.

Discover if this is the field for you in VGCC’s Intro to Court Reporting course. Meeting just a few evenings Jan. 21 – Jan 30, this foundational course is a great way to explore the basics of this career without a high-pressure commitment. Follow that up with Court Reporting Theory & Practice beginning Tuesday, Feb. 4, and you’ll be well on your way to nationally recognized certification!

Please note that Court Reporting courses require proficiency in English writing, punctuation, and grammar; good hearing; good listening; and the ability to focus and stay focused. Food Truck Development & Design

Get ready to roll out the flavor! VGCC’s all-new Food Truck Development & Design class is a comprehensive program designed to guide aspiring food truck entrepreneurs through the process of starting their own mobile food business. This 40-hour course is ideal for culinary professionals who want to reach their customers in a new way, as well as Culinary Arts students who envision a future in the food truck industry. Evening classes kick off at the Masonic Home Kitchen in Oxford on Thursday, Jan. 23.

UAV Aerial Imaging

VGCC is excited to introduce an all-new class to its Aviation program: UAV Aerial Imaging. This advanced course is for those who have already mastered basic flying of UAVs, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles or drones. Learn how to capture digital photos/videos using drone technology as well as the fundamental editing skills that will make your work shine. This class will meet for two Saturdays at VGCC’s Main Campus starting March 15.

The College will also offer FAA Part 107 Exam Prep this February for those looking to become federally-licensed commercial drone pilots. Need to build your drone pilot skills before taking either of these classes? Sign up for UAV Pilot Training at Vance-Granville Community College this April.
