What to Expect

VGCC’s Aviation program consists of unmanned flight programs. Unmanned flight programs are available to learn control of UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles, commonly called drones). Many folks buy a drone, but find out afterward that they’ve bought the wrong kind of machine for their use, or find the UAV almost impossible to control in a useful way. The VGCC UAV program provides classes to help people learn to fly a UAV. These classes include a lot of hands-on time with a GPS-controlled, geo-fenced UAV. You will use the school’s equipment. It is a perfect pre-purchase drone class. You learn about different types of equipment and how to fly. In conjunction with these flight control classes, VGCC offers preparation for the FAA Part 107 Commercial UAV Pilot examination. All pilots using UAV’s for commercial purposes require the FAA Part 107 license. There is also supplemental material that provides preparation for the North Carolina Division of Aviation UAS Operators Knowledge Test/License.
