VGCC Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT)

What is the Behavioral Intervention Team?

The Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) supports student well-being, success, and campus safety through early intervention, assessment, and coordinated support for people exhibiting concerning or distressing behaviors.

Purpose of BIT

BIT is a multidisciplinary team that reviews reports of concerning behavior, assesses risk, and coordinates appropriate support and intervention strategies.

Emergency Notice

Immediate threats should be reported to Campus Police/Public Safety or 911. Do not use the BIT form for emergencies.

When to Submit A Report

Report significant behavioral changes, mental health concerns, disruptive conduct, threatening behavior, safety concerns, or other indicators that a person may need assistance.

Reporting Process

Faculty, staff, and students may submit a Student of Concern/BIT Report. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours.

Membership

Representatives from Student Services, Academic Affairs, Campus Police, Disability Services, Title IX, Human Resources, Counseling, and Legal Counsel as needed.

Training & Prevention

Faculty and staff receive training on recognizing concerning behaviors and making effective referrals.
