The Triangle North Healthcare Foundation recently continued its partnership with Vance-Granville Community College by presenting a $25,000 donation to create a “Presidential Scholar Award”-level scholarship for VGCC students.

As a result of this donation to the VGCC Foundation, a $1,250 scholarship will be awarded to a student each year, beginning with the Fall 2021 semester. This is the fourth scholarship that the Triangle North Healthcare Foundation has established at VGCC to support a well-educated workforce.

The Triangle North Healthcare Foundation is a non-profit regional grant-making organization that supports and invests in health and wellness initiatives in Vance, Warren, Franklin & Granville counties that will result in immediate and long-term improvement in the health status of the region. The organization was established in 2011 as the successor to the Maria Parham Healthcare Foundation.

“We are grateful for the foundation’s longstanding commitment to supporting VGCC,” said Dr. Rachel Desmarais, the community college’s president. “This new scholarship will help excellent students who are training for careers in healthcare, and in other rewarding fields.”

The VGCC Foundation (formerly known as the Endowment Fund) has enabled more than 9,700 scholarships to be awarded to students since 1982. Scholarships have been endowed by numerous individuals, industries, businesses, civic groups, churches and the college’s faculty and staff. Tax-deductible donations to the VGCC Foundation have often been used to honor or remember a person, group, business or industry with a lasting gift to education.
