Student Assistance Program

What is the SAP?

VGCC is offering the Student Assistance Program (SAP) to all students and their household members for FREE!

The SAP offers help for personal, professional or school concerns by providing free, confidential, short-term counseling and personal consultation. Additionally, the SAP provides student-life resources for such issues as legal and financial consultation, online learning and resources.

Examples of concerns that the SAP addresses include:

  • Family conflict
  • Goal setting
  • Relationship issues
  • Legal and financial issues
  • Grief and loss
  • Alcohol or drug use
  • Stress, anxiety, or depression
  • School-related issues

Confidentiality is one of the most important features of the SAP. No one will know that you have used this resource unless you offer that information or unless someone’s safety is threatened.

There is no cost to you for your phone calls or virtual, telephonic or face-to-face visits with the SAP. NC Community College System covers all expenses for this program.

To seek assistance through the SAP, simply call 704-529-1428 or 800-633-3353.

Appointments are available during both daytime and evening hours. The SAP is not designed to evaluate fitness for duty or authorize leave of absences but will provide referrals as needed.

If you have questions related to services contact Vance-Granville Community College’s Student Assistance Coordinator and Counselor/ Accessibility Coordinator.
