Recent VGCC Culinary Arts graduate makes his mark

Sous chef Brandon Schultek smiling in a kitchen

Recent VGCC graduate Brandon Schultek now serves in the kitchen at nearby Henderson Country Club.

Meet Brandon Schultek! Brandon just graduated with his Culinary Arts degree from Vance-Granville Community College this past May, and he’s now the new sous chef at nearby Henderson Country Club .

“I love to see the looks on people’s faces when they eat something delicious that I have made,” he told us.

Brandon found his love for cooking at an early age when he started helping his mom prepare meals for their family. He’s more than just an excellent chef, though—he’s also a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, where he served from 2011-2015. In his spare time, Brandon raises cattle, pigs, and chickens on Soggy Dog Farm in Louisburg; you can find him on Saturdays at the Rolesville Farmers Market selling meats from his farm.

Brandon’s ultimate career goal is to open a food truck called Farm to Spork that uses all parts of the animal so that there’s zero waste. He plans to take a food truck class through VGCC’s Continuing Education department in the near future.
