WIA students at VGCC pack boxes for Operation Christmas Child

Student participants in the Workforce Investment Act program at Vance-Granville Community College recently packed shoe boxes with hygiene products, small toys, school supplies, books and other useful items for underprivileged children in Haiti, as part of the Operation Christmas Child Project. Students at VGCC’s Main Campus packed seven boxes, with students at the Franklin County Campus contributing another four.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of the North Carolina-based humanitarian organization, Samaritan’s Purse.

“Through community service projects, our WIA youth participants are able to strengthen their senses of civic engagement and community as well as help them achieve their educational, developmental and social goals,” said Courtney Cooke. “They are gaining some great experience and skills, all while helping others!”
