VGCC’s Bioprocess Technology Program Plans Information Reception on Nov. 2

Want to learn about an educational program that will prepare people for well-paying, available jobs in industry?

Vance-Granville Community College will tell interested persons all about its newest curriculum program – Bioprocess Technology – which fits that description in a reception on the main campus on Wednesday, Nov. 2. The session will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. in Seminar Room 1 of the Civic Center building.

Bioprocess Technology is a two-year program that awards an Associate in Applied Science degree to its graduates. Those who finish the program should be able to find employment in chemical, pharmaceutical and bioprocess plants in this area and in the Research Triangle.

This is one of the fastest-growing industrial areas, and the number of jobs in this field is expected to grow rapidly in future years, according to industry sources. Industries that hire Bioprocess Technologists in the local area include Revlon in Oxford and Novozymes in Franklinton.

The Bioprocess Technology program began this fall semester at Vance-Granville, and now is the time for new persons interested in starting the program next year to get started, said Christine Klahn, program head and instructor. At the reception on Nov. 2, she will provide handbooks and brochures on the program, and answer questions from attendees. Persons who cannot attend the reception may call Klahn at (252) 738-3350 for information.
