VGCC to offer two-semester Logistics Management certificate

Vance-Granville Community College is offering a certificate program in Logistics Management in a new format that will allow students to complete the credential through 12-week courses over two semesters.

These classes will meet on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County on an evening schedule, and students will complete some coursework online, making the format ideal for adults who work during the day.

Five courses are required for the certificate. Introduction to Logistics ( LOG 110 ) and Transportation Logistics ( LOG 125 ) are scheduled to be offered in this hybrid format this fall, with classes meeting on Monday and Tuesday evenings, respectively, from 6 until 7:40 p.m., Sept. 15 through Dec. 14.

In the spring semester, Supply Chain Management ( LOG 215 ), Import/Export Management ( LOG 235 ) and Purchasing Logistics ( LOG 240 ) are tentatively scheduled for Feb. 9 through May 9.

Teaching these courses will be Steven Woodworth, head of the VGCC Global Logistics & Distribution Management Technology program.

Once students complete the certificate, they can also apply the credits they earn to the associate degree in Global Logistics & Distribution Management Technology . That curriculum prepares graduates for career opportunities in distribution, transportation, warehousing, supply chain and manufacturing organizations.

Financial aid for this certificate program is available to those who qualify.
