VGCC Student-Athletes read to younger Vanguards

Vance-Granville Community College student-athletes visited with children at the Child Care Center on the college’s Main Campus in December. Among other activities, the VGCC students read books with winter and holiday themes, such as “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and Clifford the Big Red Dog’s “The Little Red Sled,” to all the classes at the center, which serves children from ages one to four. Among those participating from the Vanguards men’s basketball team were Josh Coles of Danville, Va., Josh Bethel of Durham, Jordan Bunting of Rocky Mount, Larry Mote of Henderson (originally of Newark, New Jersey), Khadier Fulcher of Oxford, Micah Stokes of Henderson and Chris Gray of Graham; and from the women’s volleyball team , Veronica Papandrea and Riley Frazier, both of Durham. At VGCC, all athletes are required to participate in service projects and community activities such as this one.
