VGCC schedules Conversational Spanish at night

Vance-Granville Community College will offer a Conversational Spanish course on its main campus in Vance County. The course is scheduled on Monday evenings from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m., Feb. 15 through May 3.

This course will serve as an introduction to the Spanish language, and students will learn to speak, listen, read and write in Spanish. The instructor, Jose Peralta, said that this course is recommended for any adult interested in learning Spanish for various purposes, including for those who need to communicate with the local Spanish-speaking population regularly because of their jobs. Peralta said that the language is not difficult to learn, and he reinforces that fact with the title of the textbook he uses, called “Spanish is Fun.”

Peralta has been teaching Spanish locally for many years, first at the old Vance Senior High School and later at VGCC.

The cost of the course is $65. For more information and to register, call Donna Dodson at (252) 738-3316.
