VGCC recycles computer equipment to help disabled

Vance-Granville Community College recently disposed of some of its used computer equipment in a way that benefits disabled individuals and the environment, by giving the equipment to Rocky Mount-based Tri-County Industries (TCI).

TCI provides rehabilitation services and employment for people who are disabled or disadvantaged through work assessment, job training and job placement. The company accomplishes that mission by providing outsource services to business and industry, including computer recycling services. TCI accepts old or outdated computers, printers, monitors, laptops and similar equipment, breaks them down and recycles them. “This is a great way to be ‘green’ and at the same time provide great opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged people,” said Mitch Evans, director of infrastructure services for VGCC.
