VGCC Radiography program head graduates from Leadership Program

Angela M. Thomas of Hillsborough, an instructor and head of the Radiography program at Vance-Granville Community College, is one of 38 graduates from across the state in the North Carolina Community College Leadership Program (NCCCLP) this year. The leadership program, which takes place over seven months at sites from the mountains to the coast, provides preparation and training for leaders within the state community college system.

Thomas started as a part-time Radiography instructor at VGCC in 1997 and became the program’s full-time clinical coordinator in 2000. In 2007, she was promoted to become head of the program, which is based at VGCC’s South Campus in Granville County. Thomas graduated with an associate in applied science degree in Radiologic Technology from Pitt Community College and a bachelor of arts in Forensic Science from Guilford College.

The North Carolina Community College Leadership Program (NCCCLP) was created in 1989 to provide an interdisciplinary approach to leadership training through professional development. In today’s climate of change, issues such as re-engineering, budget control, and collaborative approaches to problem solving offer new challenges. North Carolina Community College System officials believe that the ability to meet these challenges is dependent upon the quality and diversity of its leaders.
