VGCC Prepares For 25th Annual Career Day

Vance-Granville Community College’s 25th Annual Career Day has been scheduled for Wednesday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Civic Center.

This year’s Career Day will again feature an Interview Session to be held exclusively for 2003 graduates. The interviews will be held from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The hours have been adjusted for this year with the intention of accommodating more students. Please mark your calendars.

Potential graduates can pick up applications to register starting Monday, Feb. 3, and are asked to complete the application with all necessary corrections by the deadline date of March 17. The application process includes getting an updated copy of their transcript, a professional resume, signing a release statement and filling out some personal data forms.

Barbara Smith , the Career Center coordinator, has asked VGCC’s faculty and staff to help inform the students that Career Day is planned specifically on their behalf for employment opportunities, making contacts, and getting information about various companies. The non-graduating students should also be advised to dress professionally if they are job-seeking and to make sure they have several copies of their resumes on hand. Students can be referred to Career Center for assistance with resumes if needed.

Please direct any questions concerning Career Day to Barbara Smith or Deborah Sullivan at extensions 3326 or 3360, or by e-mail: smith@vgcc.edu or sullivan@vgcc.edu .
