VGCC Plans 2-Day Health Fair Free To Community In April

A Family Health Fair for the community will be held by Vance-Granville Community College on April 5-6.

Stations will be set up on the college’s main campus in Vance County from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day to conduct numerous free health checks and to provide health and safety information.

VGCC nursing instructors and nursing students, along with physician volunteers, will conduct the health fair. They will conduct blood pressure, eye and hearing, and depression screenings. Medical personnel will do blood sugar checks and display the latest equipment being used for this. A pharmacist will provide medication information and analysis.

Information will be provided on diabetes, smoking cessation, fire safety, dental care, stress management, arthritis and osteoporosis. Cancer education material and skin checks will be available. VGCC nursing staff and students will provide career information on the healthcare field.

Children can be finger printed and have I.D. pictures made, and there will be health-related games. Lists of health resources in the area will be available.

All the health screenings and information will be free, and college officials urge everyone in the area to take advantage of this opportunity.
