VGCC offers Woodworking class at night

Vance-Granville Community College has scheduled a ten-week evening Woodworking course, open to all area residents, in the Carpentry shop on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County. The class will meet on Thursdays from 6 until 10 p.m., Feb. 6 through April 17 (with no class meeting on March 27 due to the college’s Spring Break).

Teaching the class will be Keith Tunstall of Warrenton, VGCC’s program head and instructor for the Carpentry curriculum program . Tunstall will teach participants how to safely use various shop tools so that they may work on projects of their own choosing. He noted that students in his previous classes have made a variety of wood pieces, including cabinets, dressers, tables and beds. No prior woodworking experience is required.

The total cost per person is $110, not including construction materials. Registration in advance is required, as spaces are limited. The deadline to register is Jan. 28.

Prospective students can now register and pay for this and other personal enrichment/continuing education courses online ( www.vgcc.edu/ped ).
