VGCC offers Shag Dancing lessons

Shag dancing will be the topic of an upcoming Vance-Granville Community College course. Classes will be held on Monday evenings, Oct. 20 through Dec. 8, from 7 until 8 p.m. in room 9111 on the college’s main campus in Vance County.

The course is designed to teach Shag dancing by demonstrating the five basic steps. Instructor James Humphries will break down the popular form of swing dancing, associated with beach music, in a step-by-step manner. He will pair students to practice while he oversees and offers corrections when necessary.

The cost of the course is $45.
