VGCC Offers eBay Class at Franklin Campus

As more and more people buy and sell items over the Internet through the eBay service (www.ebay.com), a popular course at Vance-Granville Community College helps local residents do so successfully. “Buying and Selling on eBay” will be offered on the college’s Franklin County Campus, located on N.C. 56 about one mile west of Louisburg, as a night class from 6 to 10 p.m., beginning Wednesday, Feb. 28. “This would be an excellent course for someone who just needs to sell things that are taking up space in their attic, or for someone who wants to start a small business at home,” said VGCC Computer Center coordinator Laura Peace. In this course, instructor Michael Bacon will lead students through registration and the process of buying or selling items through an online auction. Each student will be encouraged to bring something to class that he or she would like to sell. During the six-week course, participants will price their items, write effective descriptions, add pictures, and then follow the progress of their auctions. Prior to the end of the class, students will go through procedures necessary to complete the sale including: the receipt of payment, packaging and shipping, and receiving buyer feedback. The cost of the course is $55, plus a $3 technology fee.
