VGCC introduces advanced Biotech training for workers

Vance-Granville Community College will offer a new advanced biotechnology training program during the evening on its Franklin County Campus in Louisburg, starting in October.

“Bioprocessing in the Workplace,” a 64-hour course, will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 until 10 p.m. Classes will start on October 7 and end on December 2.

The course was developed by the NC BioNetwork for the North Carolina Community College System. It is designed for students who have successfully completed VGCC’s BioWork course or are currently employed in the Bioprocessing/pharmaceutical industry.

“The Bioprocessing in the Workplace course will enhance the student’s knowledge and training in basic biotechnology concepts through challenging lecture modules, as well as hands-on experience in a laboratory,” said VGCC Bioprocess Technology coordinator/instructor Julie Kinlaw . “Completion of the course will strengthen each student’s skills as well increase their marketability within the biotech industry.”
