VGCC Hosts Future Educators Symposium

Vance-Granville Community College will host the “Future Educators Symposium” on Thursday, Jan. 29, from 6 until 9 p.m. in the Civic Center on the college’s main campus in Vance County. Admission to the symposium, which is designed for anyone interested in pursuing a career in education, is free.

A highlight of the symposium will be guest speaker Elic Senter, an education consultant from the North Carolina Association of Educators. Senter is also the mayor of Franklinton.

Break-out sessions will include Dr. Catherine Allen, Regional Director of the North Carolina Model Teacher Education Consortium, speaking on “Support for Becoming a Teacher,” Dr. Abram Liles, Director of Classified Personnel for Granville County Schools, discussing “What Employers Are Looking For in Teachers and Teacher Assistants,” and a session on North Carolina Central University by NCCU School of Education recruiter Denise Robinson.
