VGCC class will prepare shoppers for Black Friday

Vance-Granville Community College has a unique, timely new class coming up that will help area residents become savvy “Black Friday” holiday shoppers.

The class, called “Black Friday Shopping Secrets Revealed,” is scheduled to be held at VGCC’s Main Campus in Vance County on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., and will be repeated at the college’s South Campus (between Creedmoor and Butner) on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The instructor is Rhonda Nails of Durham, a wife, mother, educator, speaker and entrepreneur. Nails has a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. After working in the corporate world for several years, Nails returned to her love of teaching in 2010 by becoming a business coach and consultant for entrepreneurs.

She describes this class as “a lifestyle solutions presentation that provides the tools, resources and secrets to keeping more money in your pocket during the holiday season.” Nails seeks to equip participants with the know-how to get the best deals at the best prices, particularly on the Friday following Thanksgiving.

Nails will address the origins of Black Friday, savings through online shopping, coupon/promo-code websites, the ten best and ten worst items to purchase on Black Friday, researching products, using a smartphone to get the best deals, and making an “Ultimate Black Friday Game Plan,” as well as secrets of the day after Black Friday and “Cyber Monday.”

Registration in advance is required. The cost of the class is $30.

Registration can be completed online at www.vgcc.edu/ped  or in person at Main Campus (Building 7), on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
