VGCC President Robert A. Miller said, “Over the years, our ambassadors have provided wonderful service to college as they project a positive image for the institution in handling key responsibilities as student liaisons with the community.”

To qualify as an ambassador, a student must have attended VGCC for at least one year and achieved a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average. Each nominee undergoes committee interviews before being chosen.

Special training is provided the ambassadors through workshops covering leadership, motivation, hospitality and etiquette. In order for them to be helpful and responsive to visitors, they are instructed in the college history, and college programs and services.

Their duties include serving as guides or hosts and hostesses at events such as graduation, orientation for new students, annual scholarship awards ceremonies, college-sponsored events at the Civic Center and annual Career Day.

For their service, ambassadors receive a scholarship and a VGCC blazer.

Counseling Services personnel are advisors to the group.
