VGCC Can Help Local Companies Learn How To Do Business With Military, Govt. Agencies

Area companies who wish to do business with the military and other government agencies in North Carolina now have a way to learn about getting a share of this lucrative enterprise.

The state legislature has established a North Carolina Military Business Center (NCMBC) to help build stronger business relationships between private businesses and the military.

An entity of the North Carolina Community College System, NCMBC provides services through a network of business development specialists and counselors across the state and through the Small Business Centers in the state’s 58 community colleges. Vance-Granville Community College’s Small Business Center is the area contact for information about NCMBC.

The Business Assistance Office component of NCMBC has a mission to rapidly increase the number of existing North Carolina companies engaged in military business, to expand and retain revenues from military business, and to create jobs.

The NCMBC also provides a free method of automatically matching registered businesses to government business opportunities. This service is called MatchForce, and it matches registered North Carolina companies with military business opportunities, and government buyers with North Carolina suppliers. To register, businesses may visit

.

There is also a Gap Analysis component of NCMBC that identifies defense industries for recruitment to North Carolina, based on future needs of the military, existing business capacity, and availability of supporting resources in the state.

Area businesses who would like more information on doing business with the military may call Diane Finch, Director, Vance-Granville Community College Small Business Center, at (252) 738-3240.
