VGCC Announces Final Dates For Mini-Semester Registration

Vance-Granville Community College will once again offer nine mini-semester classes during Spring Semester, and the final two opportunities to register for these classes will be Wednesday, Feb. 12, and Thursday, Feb. 13.

Mini-semester classers are curriculum classes that are held three hours a day, twice a week for eight weeks in order to get in the same number of instruction hours for the same credits as a full semester course. Spring mini-semester classes will run from Feb. 17-April 16.

Most of the mini-semester classes are first-semester, required classes that may be hard to get into for the full semester, according to Marsha Nelson, VGCC dean of curriculum.

During the Spring Semester currently under way, mini-semester classes will be offered at all four of Vance-Granville Community College’s four campuses, and a couple of them will be offered on more than one campus.

Basic PC Literacy will be offered at the main campus in Vance County, South Campus in Granville County and Franklin County Campus in Louisburg. Introductory Algebra will also be offered at the main campus and the Franklin County Campus.

Introduction to Criminal Justice, Expository Writing and Word Processing will also be offered on the main campus, and Spreadsheet I will be taught at the Warren County Campus in Warrenton.

Registration hours for Spring mini-semester classes are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Feb. 12 and 13. For more information and to be assigned an advisor, new students who want to take the mini-semester classes should call the Student Services office at the main campus at 492-2061 or the satellite campus at which the class they are interested in is being offered.
