The Alumni Association of Vance-Granville Community College will meet in late January to elect officers and to discuss the focus of the association. All alumni of the college and current members of the association are encouraged to attend.

The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 5:15 p.m. in the Conference Room of Building 8 on the college’s main campus.

The Alumni Association is seeking graduates who would be interested in holding leadership positions for 2003-04. Officers to be elected are president, vice president, second vice president, third vice president, secretary, treasurer, assistant secretary and historian.

Persons who are interested in being an officer of the organization are asked to call James Edwards, advisor to the association, in advance of the meeting at (252) 738-3243 or to send e-mail to him at edwards@vgcc.edu . If you are interested in being an officer of the organization, please contact Edwards by Friday, Jan. 24.

A VGCC alumnus is a graduate who holds a diploma, certificate or degree from the college; a former non-graduate who completed, in good standing, a minimum of 30 semester course hours or 45 quarter course hours; or an honorary member who has been selected by the members.

The Alumni Association was formed to advance the growth of development of the college; to promote the personal, educational and professional development of alumni; and to establish, encourage and maintain a mutually beneficial relationship between the college and its alumni.

As the Alumni Association begins a new year, the organization will be exploring the possibility of supporting students through contributions to the Vance-Granville Community College Endowment Fund.

Refreshments will be served at the Jan. 28 meeting.
