VGCC Alumni Association Seeking Lifetime Members
Attention all alumni of Vance-Granville Community College: the college’s Alumni Association has a deal for you.
For a mere $30, you can become a lifetime member of the association. Join up and you’ll receive a VGCC alumnus pin and an Alumni Association membership card that will entitle you to a 10 percent discount on all apparel and supplies in the VGCC Bookstore.
Perhaps more importantly, the $30 membership fee will help start a new Academic Achievement Scholarship to assist a deserving student attend Vance-Granville.
Alumni of Vance-Granville Community College are persons who earned a degree, diploma or certificate from the college or a former non-graduate student who has completed a minimum of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours.
After several years of relative inactivity, the VGCC Alumni Association has been renewed with new leadership, new vigor and new goals. The association was formed to establish and maintain a lasting relationship between the college and alumni that would be beneficial to both. The new officers have pledged their dedication to those goals.
Alumni Association officers are: Danny Mangum, president; Julie Rollins, vice president; Copper Rain, secretary/treasurer; Beverly Byrd, director of publications; Ann Taylor, director of membership/activities; and Ronel Cook, director of fundraising. James Edwards, VGCC director of marketing and advisor to the association, called the officers “truly an outstanding group of people with huge leadership qualities and potential.”
One of the accomplishments of the Alumni Association has been establishment of a free online guestbook for alumni. Interested persons can visit http://www.vgcc.edu/alumniguestbook.htm to see entries that have been posted in recent months by VGCC graduates. There is no fee to post a guestbook entry. Lifetime Membership status is displayed for members of the association who have contributed to the scholarship program.
