Scholarship Awards Ceremony This Month

On Sept. 22, approximately 240 VGCC students will receive scholarships provided by local businesses, industries and individuals. The event will take place in the VGCC Civic Center beginning at 11 a.m. All students receiving scholarships will receive two tickets for guests to attend the ceremony.

According to Maria Bailey, dean of Student Services, the awards ceremony serves several purposes. “It allows the recipients the opportunity to be recognized, as well as affords them the opportunity to thank, in person, the provider of the scholarship. It is also a chance for donors to the Endowment Fund to be acknowledged.”

Students receiving a scholarship should arrive at the Civic Center at 10 a.m. During the presentations, pictures will be made of each recipient with their donor. So, students accepting scholarships, remember to look your best and bring your biggest smiles!

Also bring your appetite because a luncheon honoring the recipients and donors will follow.
