SACS Reaffirmation Committee Chair To Visit VGCC Main Campus On Jan. 22

Dr. Frank Friedman, chairman of Vance-Granville Community College’s SACS Reaffirmation Committee, will make his preliminary visit to the college on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

Dr. Friedman, president of Piedmont Virginia Community College in Charlottesville, will be here to assess the college’s preparations for the committee’s April visit, to make final logistical arrangements and to answer questions about the visit.

Various individuals and groups will be scheduled to meet with Dr. Friedman. President Robert Miller said everyone who is included in meetings with Dr. Friedman will be notified well in advance so they may rearrange their schedules, if necessary. In addition to the president, he will be meeting with the following individuals and groups:
• Self-Study Steering Committee
• Self-Study Institutional Effectiveness Committee
• Satellite Coordinators and others

“The schedule for the preliminary visit will be very full, but I hope that many of you will have an opportunity to meet Dr. Friedman and to welcome him to Vance-Granville,” President Miller said.

Dr. Friedman is an experienced SACS evaluator, having served on visiting committees, both as an evaluator and as a chairperson.

Self-Study Completed

Meanwhile, in other SACS related news, the Self-Study has been completed and will soon be printed and ready for distribution to all full-time employees. The process has involved many hours of hard work by many VGCC faculty and staff during the past two years. The quality of the final document is evidence of the effort that has gone into its development, according to Roxanne Fleming, VGCC’s institutional effectiveness officer.
