Registration begins for Spring 2013 VGCC classes

The Spring 2013 semester at Vance-Granville Community College begins Tuesday, Jan. 8, but college officials advise students to apply and register for classes as early as possible. New students may apply for admission at any time prior to the beginning of the term. The upcoming semester’s course schedule is now available on VGCC’s web site ( www.vgcc.edu ) by clicking on “ WebAdvisor .” Printed schedules will also be available at all VGCC campuses and in boxes at various community locations.

Orientation sessions for new students in curriculum programs will be held in the Civic Center on VGCC’s Main Campus in Vance County on Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m; at South Campus (between Creedmoor and Butner) on Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m.; at the Franklin County Campus on Dec. 4 at 5 p.m.; and at the Warren County Campus on Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m.

Registration will be open to all new and returning students on Wednesday-Thursday, Nov. 14-15, Monday-Thursday, Nov. 26-29, and finally on Thursday, Jan. 3. Hours for in-person registration are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Students also have the option of registering for classes online through the WebAdvisor system, from Nov. 12 through Dec. 28.

High school students interested in taking VGCC courses through the Career and College Promise program should consult their school guidance counselors or a VGCC counselor. These students must register in person. For more information, go to www.vgcc.edu/HighSchoolStudents .

Students may pay, verify payment or charge tuition and fees online through WebAdvisor (by Visa or MasterCard) or in person at the VGCC Business Office on Main Campus (or at the campus where they are enrolled) on the same days as registration. The Main Campus Business Office hours of operation during registration are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Fridays. The payment deadline for registration is Monday, Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. if paying in person, or Friday, Dec. 28 if paying online or by mail. Students will not be mailed an invoice or schedule of classes, but may view and print their charges and class schedule through their WebAdvisor account.

Anyone with questions about registration at Vance-Granville should contact the college’s Main Campus at (252) 492-2061 or visit any of the other campuses for more information.

Prospective students interested in seeking financial assistance are encouraged to immediately complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.gov  and to visit the VGCC Financial Aid Office .

Eligible students may receive Pell Grants ranging from $602 to $5,550. Students may also qualify for other college or state funds. In order for a student to charge tuition, fees, and books to financial aid awards, the application must be processed entirely prior to the registration period. Students with preschool-age children may receive financial assistance to help pay for child care, and applications for this help are also available at the Financial Aid Office.
