Popular Computer Classes Begin Soon at VGCC Warren Campus

Vance-Granville Community College will offer several of its popular computer-related classes for area residents this fall on the college’s Warren County Campus, located at 210 West Ridgeway Street in Warrenton.The “Beginner’s Guide to Computers & Internet” course is the perfect first class for students who have limited knowledge of computers. Microsoft Windows XP will be used to introduce novice students to the common components and many uses of personal computers through the Windows environment. Additionally, students will explore web sites by using a browser, learn how to access information on the Internet by using search engines, and send and receive email messages. This course will be offered on Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., Sept. 27 through Nov. 1. The cost to register is $55, plus a $3 technology fee.For students who have already some working knowledge of computers and the Internet, a course entitled “Basic Computer Skills” follows up with instruction in various components of the Microsoft Office Suite. Students will improve their keyboarding skills in addition to learning the basics of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint or Publisher. This course will also teach the student to integrate the various application programs with one another to fully utilize the interface capabilities. The class will meet Monday and Wednesday nights from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sept. 17 through Nov. 21.
