Phi Theta Kappa Project Underway

Phi Theta Kappa will kick the year off with a service project that will help three charities in the Henderson area.

January 14-28, ACTS, Jubilee House and Heart’s Haven will benefit from this drive.

ACTS (Area Christians Together in Service) is a ministry supported by more than 40 churches, local businesses, individuals, private foundations and the United Way. They serve the community through the operation of four programs: Soup Kitchen, Food Pantry, Emergency Financial Assistance Vouchers, and Jubilee House.

The Jubilee House is a transitional housing program for homeless men and families. The goal of the program is to help individuals and families move from homelessness to self-sufficiency.

Heart’s Haven is a safe shelter that offers comprehensive domestic violence services to Vance County. A 12-bed facility, Heart’s Haven provides housing for battered women and their children.

Canned food items, dried goods and household items that are collected will be given to these groups. Items can be placed in boxes at specific locations throughout Main Campus.

Such items needed for donation are as follows: canned food, dried goods, beverages, napkins, paper-plates, cleaning chemicals, toiletry items and supplies for children to include coloring books and crayons.

Interested individuals may contact Phil Mondou or Evelyn Hall for further information.
