Orientations Set For 2005-2006 Medical Coding Classes At VGCC

Vance-Granville Community College is wrapping up a successful year of Medical Coding computer classes and is planning for a new round of the one-year program to begin on Aug. 15.

Medical Coding is one of the fastest-growing occupations in the nation, with an annual salary ranging from $24,000 to $40,000, dependent on experience and certifications. Thirty-seven completed the training at VGCC in the school year ending in July.

VGCC is offering the classes during the day, in the evening and online. Orientation sessions for the evening and online classes will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, and orientation for the day classes will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9. All orientations will be held in Room 7101 of Building 7 on the main campus in Vance County.

To participate in the online coding class, a person needs a computer with Internet access, a valid e-mail address, and know how to operate a computer.Registration fee for Medical Coding is $60, plus the cost of the textbook.
