Only One Day Remains To Register For VGCC Mini-Semester Classes

The final opportunity to register for Fall Semester mini-semester classes at Vance-Granville Community College will be Monday, Sept. 29.

Mini-semester classes are curriculum classes that are held three hours a day, twice a week for eight weeks in order to get in the same number of instruction hours for the same credits as a course that takes the whole semester. Fall mini-semester classes will run from Sept. 30 to Nov. 26.

Many of the mini-semester classes are first semester, required classes that may be hard to get into for the full semester, according to Marsha Nelson, VGCC dean of curriculum.

VGCC will offer seven mini-semester courses this fall. The classes will be offered at three of VGCC’s four campuses, and three of them will be offered at more than one campus.

Basic PC Literacy will be offered on the main campus in Vance County and at the Warren County Campus in Warrenton. Both Introductory Algebra and Keyboarding will be taught at the main campus and at South Campus in Granville County. The final mini-semester offering, Victimology, a Criminal Justice course, will be taught on the main campus.

Registration hours for Fall mini-semester classes are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 29, and registration can be done by computer in the office of the student’s advisor, in the Student Services building on the main campus or at one of the satellite campuses.

For more information and to be assigned an advisor, new students who want to take mini-semester classes should call the Student Services office at the main campus at (252) 492-2061 or the satellite campus at which the class they are interested in is being offered.
