Nurse Aide courses scheduled at VGCC Main Campus

Vance-Granville Community College is now registering students for the Introduction to Nurse Aide and Nurse Aide Level I (CNA I) courses, which are scheduled to start soon at the college’s Main Campus in Vance County.

The “Introduction to Nurse Aide/Human Resources Development” course is a prerequisite to Nurse Aide Level I and will be offered twice: March 6-9, each day from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., and March 13-16, each day from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. There is no cost for this course.

After the introductory course, students will take the Nurse Aide Level I course. Two sessions are scheduled, one Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., March 14 through May 10, and the other Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., March 19 through May 11.

The Nurse Aide I program prepares students to become Certified Nursing Assistants and to take the state CNA certification exam. VGCC’s certification programs offer classroom education, laboratory training, and clinical experiences in local nursing facilities and hospitals. Jobs for CNAs are available at nursing homes, home health care agencies, physicians’ offices and other health-care facilities. To register for the course, a student should bring a Social Security card, a picture ID and a negative TB skin test result. The cost of this course is $175 plus $25 in fees and the cost of the textbook.
