Nurse Aide class offered during evening at VGCC Franklin Campus

Vance-Granville Community College is now registering students for the Introduction to Nurse Aide and Nurse Aide Level I (CNA I) courses, which are scheduled to start soon at the college’s Franklin County Campus.

The “Introduction to Nurse Aide/Human Resources Development” course is a prerequisite to Nurse Aide Level I and will be held Monday through Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m., Jan. 17 through Jan. 25. There is no cost for this course.

The Nurse Aide Level 1 course will be held Monday through Thursday from 5 until 9 p.m., Jan. 30 through April 19.

The cost for this course is $175 plus $25 in fees and cost of the textbook.

All classes are scheduled to be held in Building 5 on the Franklin Campus, located on N.C. 56 about one mile west of Louisburg.

The Nurse Aide I program prepares students to become Certified Nursing Assistants and to take the state CNA certification exam. VGCC’s certification programs offer classroom education, laboratory training, and clinical experiences in local nursing facilities and hospitals. Jobs for CNAs are available at nursing homes, home health care agencies, physicians’ offices and other health-care facilities.

To register for the course, a student should bring a Social Security card, a picture ID and a negative TB skin test result.
