New Night Program At VGCC Offers Adult High School Diploma Classes

People who need only a few credits to earn high school diplomas can earn them at night in a new program at Vance-Granville Community College.

Classes will begin Sept. 25 on VGCC’s main campus for people 18 and over to study and earn an adult high school diploma from the school. These classes are designed for people with family responsibilities who are working days and cannot attend regular adult high school day classes at one of VGCC’s four campuses.

Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. in room 6104 on the main campus in Vance County. Bob Toler, who teaches in the adult high school program at VGCC’s Franklin County Campus, will be the instructor.

Applicants must have completed at least 11 high school credits. Interested persons should call Suzanne Keil, VGCC coordinator of basic skills at 492-2061, ext. 3344, to register. Applicants will be required to send a copy of their high school transcript to Keil.

Upon successfully completing their needed credits for a diploma, students will take the required North Carolina competency tests.

Tuition in the classes is free. Students will be expected to buy their textbooks.
