KLAHBA BEGINS THIRD SCHOLARSHIP

The Kerr Lake Area Home Builders Association has begun establishment of a third Academic Achievement Scholarship at Vance-Granville Community College. Previously, two Academic Achievement scholarships have been completed, named for two charter members of the association, Red Faulkner and John Franklin. When the association completes funding of the third award, it will be the Kerr Lake Area Home Builders Association/Carl Lawrence Academic Achievement Scholarship. Part of the funding for the scholarships comes from two golf tournaments sponsored annually by the association. At the most recent tournament, on May 30, association President Gary Honeycutt presented the first payment of $1,000 toward the third scholarship to VGCC President Robert A. Miller. Participating in the presentation are, from left, Kenny Jones, first vice president, Kathy Pierce and John Thompson, board members, Honeycutt, Miller, Pene Short-Jones, KLAHBA executive officer, and David Long and Joe Falkner, board members. The home builders’ second tournament will be held at Kerr Lake Country Club on Oct. 3.
